KOSPI Session Quirks and Retracement Anchors

Local cash-session behavior changes how Fibonacci anchors behave around the Namyangju desk.

Traders studying with us in Gyeonggi-do often work KOSPI names alongside FX. Cash-session opens introduce gaps and opening ranges that interact with overnight Fibonacci levels.

Opening range vs overnight fib

A 61.8% plotted from a multi-day impulse may sit inside the first thirty-minute range. Acting on the first print through that level during the open is a common source of scratched trades. We teach waiting for the opening range to settle before evaluating rejection at the fib.

Holiday and half-day sessions

Thin liquidity around Korean holidays can stretch wicks through 78.6% without changing the larger swing thesis. Planning sheets should note whether the session is a full cash day. If unsure, coaching students mark “holiday — observe only” on the wait condition.

Practical studio habit

Keep a paper calendar of KRX holidays next to the chart pack. It sounds mundane; it prevents rewriting anchors that were only holiday noise.
